Florida road workers had a big surprise this week when, when they arrived on a street to repair a ditch, they discovered that the damage had been caused by a tunnel leading to a nearby bank .
The FBI released photos of the underground tunnel leading to a branch of Chase Bank in Pembroke Pines, 30 km north of Miami.
Police and the FBI were called Tuesday night after the workers found that a sewer-sized hole had been caused by a tunnel.
Subsequent excavations revealed a 46-meter pbadage extending from a wooded area to the shore on Flamingo Road.
The tunnel was wide enough that only one person could crawl on his belly.
"I would say I saw something like this in the movies," FBI agent Mike Leverock told reporters. "But this hole is so small, it's unique."
The FBI said in a tweet that he viewed the case as a "bank robbery attempt".
