A 16-year-old deaf-mute teenager was gang-raped in Cabo Frio, Rio de Janeiro's Lake District. According to the civilian police, the crime was committed a year and a half ago, but the case was only recorded last Wednesday (30). The police are trying to identify the suspects.

According to the civilian police, the teenager revealed the case to a friend of the family, who knew Brazilian Sign Language (Libras), about the mistreatment of the victim's mother.

Still according to the civilian police, the victim was heard with the badistance of an interpreter. During her testimony, she learned that three men had committed the crime after waking up at dawn.

"The child is usually ashamed to tell parents what happened because there is a sense of shame," said delegate Juliana Rattes, head of the police department specialized in Cabo Frio.

The delegate also explained that the victim was in the habit of going to his aunt's house and that one of the suspects is his ex-partner. Juliana explained that he and two other men had entered the house and had taken the teenager to the kitchen, where the abuse had occurred.

Police also reported that the suspects had covered the victim's mouth and had bad, thus making a "relay" between them.

Still according to the civilian police, the victim's mother reportedly testified that after the crime, the teenager no longer wanted to go to her aunt's house.

After being heard, the teenager was referred to the Medical Legal Institute (IML) of Araruama for medical examinations.
