An old pot containing a traditional poison used by Indian tribes of South America was taken from a museum in Holland. The robbery took place on Wednesday morning at the Boerhaave Museum in Leiden

The thieves stormed a building adjacent to the museum and carried a box containing poison and a small amount of money.

The substance is called "curare" and is used in hunting by indigenous peoples. The poison is pbaded over the arrows that are fired at the animals, says museum director, Amito Haarhuis

– The poison was offered to us as part of a collection, but we decided that we would not did not want to. Then we locked it in a safe and we wanted to destroy it in a safe way, "says Haarhuis

The dried stuff looks like a cube of black sugar. The country's police have issued an alert so that the citizens who come to find it activate the agents and do not touch the poison, which is toxic and can be fatal.
