A physical fitness test before being able to take an operational specialization course at Vila Militar Thursday ended tragically: 3rd Sergeant Gabriel Trettel Telles was sick and died Saturday night. He was rescued and taken to the Central Army Hospital (HCE) in Benfica, in the northern area of Rio, but did not resist. According to the East Military Command (CML), the army died as a result of a "thermal depletion"
. The last Sergeant did a routine battery of test drills, when he felt bad and that he was taken to the Vila Militar General Hospital. He was then transferred to the HCE. According to the CML, although procedures are in place to try to resuscitate the soldier, he was killed tonight.
In a note, the East Military Command announced that an investigation would be conducted to determine the circumstances of the death. Also in a note, he indicated that he sympathized "with the family of Sergeant Telles, at this time of pain and regret" and made it clear that he was already bringing "spiritual, psychological and administrative support" .
The military was originally from Itu, inside São Paulo and served in the Vila Militar unit in Rio.
