The rain that reached Curitiba and the metropolitan area on Friday (30) ended tragically in Itaperuçu, about 30 kilometers from the capital. Around 19:30, a wall collapsed on a public road in Jardim Itaú. Two people on the sidewalk were hit and died underground. The victims are two teenagers aged 14 and 16 years old.
Rain and high winds caused a lot of damage in the city. A hospital was partially destroyed and patients had to be transferred. The houses were destroyed and even some cars were thrown with the force of the wind.
Mayor Hélio Guimarães accompanied the work of the military police and the civil defense on Friday evening. He said that there was no way to know the extent of the damage. But it is possible to declare state of public calamity at Itaperuçu this Saturday (1st).
Guimarães also reported that the city had virtually lost all its vaccines due to lack of light. Since the health station does not have a generator, the city borrowed from a network of furniture stores for the refrigerators to operate. All doses were recorded.
