One of the most well-known faces of Brazilian TV journalism, presenter Alexandre Garcia left Globo after just over 30 years spent within the company. The information was confirmed by the station badistant.
In a press release, Ali Kamel, Globo's director of journalism, said that the decision to leave was made by Garcia himself. The reason would be the need to give a break in the career, marked by the frantic pace – Garcia is 78 years old.
Kamel also recalled the reporter's moments in the station and emphasized the contribution of the former collaborator to the company.

Originally from Cachoeira do Sul, 200 km from Porto Alegre, Garcia studied social communication at the PUC in Rio Grande do Sul and worked in the extinct branch of Jornal do Brasil in Porto Alegre. Later, he went to the newspaper in Brasilia, an opportunity that opened the door to national journalism. He made his debut in the now defunct television, Manchete, in 1983, and in 1988 he started working at Globo.
