Transmission line auctions occur each year and serve to increase energy supply and also strengthen the electrical system. The remuneration of companies that win the auction will be paid by consumers in the electricity bill.

In total, 2,600 kilometers of transmission lines and substations with a processing capacity of 12.2 megawatts-amps (MVA) are expected to be provided in 16 states: Alagoas, Bahia, Ceará, Goiás , Maranhão, Minas General Gerais, Pará, Paraíba, Piauí, Rio de Janeiro, Rio Grande do Norte, Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina, São Paulo, Sergipe and Tocantins.

The winner of each lot will be the group that agrees to receive during the concession period the lowest value for the construction and operation of the line. The maximum annual compensation provided in the notice of appeal is about 1 billion reais, in the sum of all lots.

The revenues of the company during the term of the contract can reach 25.7 billion reais and the planned investment in the construction of the lines is 6 billion reais.

According to Aneel's forecasts, the work should last from 36 to 63 months, depending on the lot, which should generate 13,600 direct jobs.

The auction will take place at B3 headquarters, former BM & FBovespa, at 9am.

This is the first broadcast auction of the year. At the last edition, held in December 2017, all 11 lots were sold, representing investments estimated at R $ 8.7 billion.
