The Department of Foreign Affairs tackled a sensitive issue on Thursday (10). The president of the Export Promotion Agency (Apex) said that he would not leave his post. This after Minister Ernesto Araújo said he accepted an alleged resignation.
At the end of the day, the resignation of the President of Apex was signed by President Bolsonaro himself. The Minister of Foreign Affairs announced on Wednesday (9) that Apex President Alex Carreiro had resigned.
Ernesto Araújo even went so far as to say that he had given President Jair Bolsonaro another name to badume the post. But on Thursday (10), it was clear that Alex Carreiro not only had not resigned, but had also made a show of resistance to the minister's act.
Alex Carreiro sent in the afternoon to the press office of Apex announce that he was meeting the normal conditions in the agency and pointed out that he had been appointed by the President of the Republic.
Carreiro received all day the authorities, among them parliamentarians of the PSL, the party that appointed him to this post. Linked to Itamaraty, Apex is the main agency promoting Brazilian products and services abroad and also attracts foreign investment.
The misunderstanding between Ernesto Araújo and Alex Carreiro sparked discomfort at Plbadto's palace. No government official spoke of the resignation, which would have been caused by disagreements with the minister and compounded by Carreiro's lack of experience for the post.
Earlier in the evening, the document arrived at the Civil House, exonerating Alex Carreiro. The candidate for this post, Ambbadador Mario Vilalva, trusted name of Minister Ernesto Araújo, was received by President Bolsonaro.
