An Argentine kidnapped by a human trafficking ring and taken to Bolivia 32 years ago was rescued on Tuesday with her youngest son after a joint operation of the two countries' security forces.
In a statement, law enforcement authorities in Argentina said that in December 2014, they had received a court order to investigate the case. However, there is no further detail on the case and the conditions in which the victim and the child lived were not disclosed.
In the first months of this year, the agency gathered information and discovered that the woman, originally from Mar del Plata (on the coast of the province of Buenos Aires), was in the Bolivian town of Bermejo , which borders the Argentine province of Salta. She was taken at the age of 13.
As a result of coordinated action with the Bolivian Police Special Crime Task Force, the 45-year-old woman and her nine-year-old son were located.
The two men are brought back to Argentina and delivered, initially, to the authorities of the Office of Rescue and Assistance to Victims of Trafficking in Human Beings in the city of Salta. Later, the mother and son returned to Mar del Plata, where they found their loved ones.
