The Bahia Military Police (PM-BA), which reinforced police operations in Ceará in the last 13 days, returned on Saturday (19). They were received in the city of Lauro de Freitas by Colonel Anselmo Brandão, general commander of the PM-BA.
The troupe is sent to Ceará to provide public security support to the state, which is facing a series of criminal attacks against public buildings and buses. The sending of military police was criticized by opponents of Governor Rui Costa, who defended the measure on the grounds that the Northeast region had to unite.
"I am happy because the troop understood the spirit of the mission and succeeded successfully," said Lt. Col. Ricardo Mattos, commander of the Ceará operation. Brandão also thanked the police for his commitment. "The first time in history that the military police of a state joins the prime minister of another state to fight crime," said the PM-BA's chief commander.
