The company intends to export the first 14-pbadenger microbus to Japan in early 2019 in partnership with a subsidiary of SoftBank Baidu announced at its developer conference. The Chinese company said in a statement that it had produced 100 vehicles in a factory in southern China
The double announcement comes several months after the departure of Lu Qi, who took office in Baidu in 2017 as than group chairman. His abrupt departure was threatening to undermine Baidu's ambition to place artificial intelligence at the heart of its business and helped eliminate more than a tenth of the market value of Chinese business.
