Resources are available for withdrawal for a period of three months. The benefit is intended for families registered in the Single Register and whose monthly income per capita is 89 Rwandan dollars, in addition to those whose monthly income per person is less than 178 rand per pregnant woman, child or adolescent
. In enrolling in the program, families make commitments in the areas of education and health, which we call conditionalities.
The MDS recalls that children and adolescents need 85% schooling. For 16- and 17-year-olds, the required percentage is 75%. In terms of health, one of the commitments is to keep up to date the vaccination of children and the prenatal care of pregnant women.
The last adjustment of the Bolsa Família occurred at the same time two years ago. In 2016, the benefit had also been two years without increase. This readjustment of 5.67% was approved in May by the government. The Bolsa Familia is the largest social expenditure of the Union, consuming about 29 billion reais per year, distributed to nearly 14 million families.
