RIO – The elected president,
Jair Bolsonaro
, said Saturday that he intended to submit to Congress a proposal to amend the
voting system
in the country's elections in the first half of next year. Bolsonaro, however, has not detailed the changes that he should suggest to parliamentarians. The president-elect participated by video at the Conservative Summit of the Americas, which was held in Foz do Iguaçu, in Paraná. For him, the total number of votes he received in this year's election should have been higher.

– We intend to vote in the first half a good proposal for a voting system in Brazil. Because I and many people understand that we won because we had a lot more votes than they did, "he said.

– Mistrust, is that it? I do not make a positive statement, but distrust of the possibility of fraud is something that concerns many people here in Brazil. It is not because we are winning now that we have to rely on this voting process. We want to perfect it, "he said.

Bolsonaro pointed out that the intention was to perfect the voting process:

– We understand the support and concerns of the Higher Electoral Tribunal, which stated that it did not have to worry. We really have to worry, "he said.

During the election campaign, Bolsonaro made several statements in which he questioned the reliability of electronic ballot boxes. In a live broadcast at the Albert Einstein Hospital in São Paulo, the first after the bombing of Juiz de Fora (MG), Bolsonaro even declared that the possibility of losing the election "in the fraud" to Fernando Haddad, candidate to PT, was "concrete". Then, the Supreme Electoral Court (TSE) ordered Google and Facebook to remove the video from the aircraft at the request of the Haddad defense.
