President-elect Jair Bolsonaro ceded his ministry status to Secom (secretary of social communication) and split the secretariat in two.

Secom is now linked to the General Secretariat of the Presidency of the Republic. It is responsible for formulating public communication policies, disseminating government actions and coordinating departmental communication.
The Secretariat is also responsible for press relations, the coordination of government advertising and sponsorship by the federal public administration. The body still oversees the activities of EBC (Empresa Brasil de Comunicação) and hosts the spokesman for the presidency.
Bolsonaro, who led his entire presidential campaign without a press office, is currently studying the professionalization of his government's communication. . The allies explain that he is studying the possibility of choosing a journalist for the position of spokesman.
