A group of tourists was injured in an accident on the Monteserrat cable car in Bogota, Colombia on Monday (24). Among the wounded are three Brazilians.
The official number of the wounded has not been revealed by the authorities, nor their name. Local media estimates between 17 and 30 the number of injured, mainly foreign tourists.
The press reports that a cable car brake failure projected a crowded car against a pbadenger ramp and another car. The authorities have not however ruled that a human error is the cause of the accident.
Among the wounded are three Brazilians, five Americans, three Germans, two Belgians and one Englishman. The other wounded would be Colombians. There is no information on the age and bad of Brazilian tourists, nor on their clinical parameters.
All the wounded are treated on the spot and some are directed to the military hospitals, San Ignacio and San José as well as to the clinics of San Rafael and Colombia. The most serious cases are three women aged 29, 46 and 56 years old and two men aged 32 and 34 who were injured in the head.
Monserrate Hill is a popular tourist destination in Bogota, especially in religious festivals such as Christmas and Easter.
