The Brazilian Embbady in Bogotá, Colombia, announced that the three Brazilians involved in a cable car crash on Monserrate Hill are doing well.

According to the local press, a total of 28 people were involved in an accident yesterday (24), the majority of whom were foreigners. According to a note from the social networks of the Bogotá Fire Department, only five people needed emergency care before going to the hospital.

Monserrate Hill is a tourist attraction and a place of religious pilgrimage in the metropolitan area of Bogota. Authorities reported that the brakes of one of the taxis were failing, causing them to lose control. No deaths have been reported.

In service since 1929, the Monserrate cable car is one of the most important tourist attractions of the Colombian capital. However, criticism has been raised about the need to modernize the technical system and cabling of the cable car.
