Even in times of crisis, the application-based transport market in Brazil has attracted the attention and efforts of several giants. While the Uber and the 99 Brazilian compete for first place, Cabify ranks far behind with the integration of taxi and private car services. Despite this, the Spanish company refuses to adhere to the aggressive reduction policy of its rivals.
According to Cabify's director in Brazil, Jorge Pilos, the country's mobility market is going through a moment of irrationality. According to the executive, the transportation application companies buy the pbadenger for "a value greater than its value" and the company intends to wait for this phase to pbad.
"The markets are finally becoming rational, it has happened in China, Russia and Singapore, and nobody knows who will win, but that will eventually happen," said the executive.
For now, the company says its plan is to invest in quality of service, cars and customer service. In addition, Cabify is investing in the concept of "Mobility as a Service" (MaaS), unifying its management with Easy in the country. The change will allow users to use a single app to call both private cars and taxis.
Despite internal difficulties, Brazil remains one of Cabify's major markets in the world. Currently, the country is behind Spain in the overall standings of the company, sandwiching second place with Mexico.
In addition to taxis and pbadenger cars, Cabify also operates in the electric scooter sharing market via Movo. Present in the city of Madrid, Spain, the service extends to Latin America, reaching Mexico, Chile, Colombia and Peru later this year. However, when asked about the application in Brazil, Jorge Pilos said there was no forecast for the first half.
In recent months, several scooter and e-bike rental initiatives are gaining ground in the country. Yellow, for example, already operates in cities such as São Paulo and Curitiba, offering cyclists without stations or electric scooters. Uber has confirmed his intention to introduce Jump to the country later this year.
