Carilla faces the worst phase at Corinthians on the eve of her "decision" for 2019 – Football

The tries of the beginning of season are finished and Corinthians arrives at the most important match of the first half after having shown little things here. The team is far from ready, but has a decisive duel against Racing, Thursday (14). Fabio Carille is at the center of all pressures and admits that improvement takes time, but that he must find a way to make Alvinegro win in the short term.

This is the worst phase of the coach in the club. In previous years, the team may have sometimes evolved slowly, but it has always evolved. This time, the adjustment seems much more complicated: the tactical model has still not been defined and the changes are so numerous that each game looks like the first of the year. Carille himself admits that he needs to define a game plan "so that players know what to do on the field".

However, the inadequacy of midfielders is not the main problem of the Corinthians, who took too many goals and almost always from the top. Of the eight goals collected by Cbadio this year, six were born in the air ball (75%). This proportion is even more worrying than during the period under Jair Ventura's command in the last stretch of 2018, when seven of the 19 goals conceded were up (37%).

In the seven official matches played in 2019, Corinthians used at least four different tactical proposals. Last Sunday, during the defeat against Novorizontino, Carille again used a line of three creators behind the center-forward – unlike the diamond he had tested a few days ago against Ferroviário.

This was the third defeat suffered by the Corinthians this year, all in the Paulista championship. In 2018, the third setback came in the 15th match. The previous year, it was only in the 51st match, already in mid-August.

The coach considers the showdown with Racing as "the biggest challenge" of the Corinthians season this season. This is not a problem for Carille. He is the leader of the Argentina Championship, which has lost only two of his last 15 official matches.
