Different points of view

Bolsonaro had already presented the idea of increasing the maximum number of CNH points. in 2011. When he defended a bill about it in the Chamber of Deputies, he said that it was a compensation for Brazilian drivers "damaged by excessive fines ".

Increasing the score, according to the current president, would be a way to reduce the losses of those who need the job entitlement, for example. The case was finally filed in the House.

The application was also made by the truck drivers and defended during the national strike.

According to Iara Thielen, professor of psychology course at the Federal University of Paraná (UFPR) and member of the Traffic Board, she deals with the theme of the category. irresponsible measure. "The idea of badigning points to offenses is to gradually shape the behavior of drivers, and by relaxing the rules, it's hard for people to understand how they should act," he says. "If the law is more permissive, people think that they can decide what to do.It is absurd to relax the rule in a country that has as many road victims as Brazil."

The teacher points out that it is necessary to take into account the cost of the new rules from the point of view of public health. "The whole population pays the price of the necessary health care for the victims of road accidents. This seems to be an advantage, but in reality it is a measure that would harm the society as a whole."

In Paraná, according to data from the Department of Roads (DER-PR), 8,643 accidents were recorded on the roads, with 7,794 victims and 579 deaths in 2017.
