The Vasco will play again in the final of the São Paulo Cup after 20 years. The Rio team defeated the Corinthians on penalties after a 2-2 draw in regulation time Tuesday night (22) at the Barueri Arena. Corinthians Rafinha and João Celeri, as well as the Basque Ulysses team, lost their charges in the maximum penalties.
The team will now find São Paulo in the decision of the competition. In 1992, Vasco defeated their opponents on penalties after their 1-0 win, seven years later they returned to the Copinha final, but lost 1-0 to the Corinthians. The decisive match of this edition of the tournament will take place next Friday (25) in Pacaembu.
On Tuesday night, Vasco started the match with intensity. The position of the Carioca team quickly worked. Facing a disorganized Corinthians in defense, the team opened the scoring nine minutes after the start of the first half. On the pitch, striker Tiago Reis took advantage of Corinthian's failure and was pushed to the bottom of the nets only after a corner (right).
Corinthians, pushed by the supporters of Arena Barueri, even tried to react. For that, he was looking for the fastest games with Janderson. The stopped ball, however, made the difference for Vasco again.
With Corinthians on the scoreboard, coach Eduardo Barroca made a replacement in the 23rd minute. Du midfielder has been replaced by midfielder Rafinha. In this way, the Paulista team began to have more ball to create more chances. Janderson then lost his chance in the area by risking a bicycle – the ball went out of the way. Shortly after, Nathan missed his chance to slow down: even though he did not score a goal in the small area, the striker was curled up and did not could not enter the net.
Meanwhile, Nathan was redeeming himself before the break, at the last minute of halftime. After a corner kick and confusion in the surface, the Corinthian player took the rest and knocked hard to score. The goal was even celebrated by striker Mauro Boselli on social networks.

As was the case in the first half, the last stage started to be very busy at the Barueri Arena. At six minutes, Jordan inflicted a penalty to Basque João Pedro. Lucas Santos fell and scored. The penalty came three minutes later, again with Nathan, who completed a ball raised by Rafael Bilu and scored in front – the striker scored his eighth goal in the Cup.
The match continued to move until the final whistle, with many opportunities created by part of both teams. In the best case, the Basque player Caio Lopes sent a ball on the crossbar at a distance. In the last leg of the duel, Ulisses nearly scored on goal by placing a cross in the form of a letter. Goalkeeper Diego was able to make a backup.
