Last year, there were 241 outbreaks of acute diarrheal syndrome. According to Dive, pathogens are usually transmitted because of improper preparation and packaging of foods and beverages, such as water and fruit juices, of dubious origin and poor hand hygiene.
Pathogenic organisms include rotavirus and norovirus bacteria, Escherichia coli, Salmonella and Shigella bacteria, as well as Cryptosporidium, Cyclospora and Giardia parasites.
To avoid this disease, Dive recommends:
