The practice of dividing the pbadword for streaming services such as Netflix, HBO Go and Amazon Prime between friends and family is quite common. With this in mind, Synamedia, a digital security company, has developed a system that uses artificial intelligence to determine if the same pbadword is used by different users. The technology has already been tested by several companies and should soon be operational.
The Credentials Sharing Insight program tracks and badyzes whether different people are connected with the same user and on different devices. For example: a person in São Paulo and a family member who lives in Rio generally have access to the same account of different devices. They would be targeted as suspects by the system, which would alert society
. According to the publication, sharing access between friends or with the family is the least of the problems. In these cases, the streaming service could simply send an alert or offer a "family subscription". The big advantage of Synamedia's program is actually to identify cases of fraud, where pbadwords are poorly sold on a large scale.
