The two dead men were living in Quilombo Sapatu, in the rural area of El Dorado. One of them died in early January and the other Sunday (13). They had the same symptoms and, after being treated in the municipal health network, were admitted to the Dr. Leopoldo Bevilacqua Regional Hospital (HRLB) of Pariquera-Açu.

Six other people were referred to the same hospital, according to the Eldorado Health Surveillance Service.

On G1 contacted the hospital's lawyer, who stated that only the State Department of Health could confirm suspected cases. The Secretariat has not positioned itself on the cases until the publication of this report.

The first monkeys Deaths began to appear in October in the rural area of Eldorado. In December, the number of deaths increased significantly. "Twenty monkeys have been killed in rural areas and especially in quilombos areas," said Ataíde dos Santos de Almeida, Eldorado's Health Surveillance Coordinator.

However, according to Almeida, it is not possible to confirm whether these animals were suffering from yellow fever, as this would only be possible through an examination carried out from the body of the animal. Most of the dead monkeys are in the riverbeds and are carried by the stream. "We are not able to collect the viscera of animals for testing, and the animals we found have not been able to collect them," he said.

The Health Watch of Iporanga, a neighboring town, also issued a statement on social networks last Friday (11). According to the municipal administration, monkey deaths have been recorded in the Nhungara and Jurumirim neighborhoods.

As in Eldorado, there is no evidence that the animals were yellow fever. The Sucen teams were in the Nhungara district, but they did not collect the material because of the decomposition of the animals. Last week, Sucen was back in the neighborhoods to conduct the research and talk to the locals who found the monkeys.

Iporanga Secretary of State for Health, Ranulfo Julio Mariano Pereira, guaranteed that there was no hospitalized person in the city with the disease. "We have some suspicious cases, but no case has been confirmed and no one has been hospitalized." The superintendent of endemic control (Sucen) has already come to check and talk to the residents and they have to come back ", he explains.

Due to the large number of dead monkeys and suspected cases of yellow fever, Eldorado's health surveillance intensified its prevention and referral activities. Many people, living mainly in the countryside, were not vaccinated during the campaign.

"The job is to strengthen immunization." During the campaign, there were many refusals and, automatically, many people were not vaccinated. urban area, yellow fever vaccine. All those who are looking for it should simply bring the document to the health unit, "says Almeida.

In Iporanga, the Health Surveillance issued a new statement on Monday, informing that the teams would visit the Nhungara Castelhanos and Jurimirm neighborhoods from this Tuesday (15) to carry out the vaccination of all the residents. The teams will perform the service from house to house. Also, vigilance has warned the tourists. All those who go to the upper tourist park of Ribeira (Petar ) must be vaccinated against yellow fever 10 days before
