The discussion regarding the possession or not of these deputies detained divided parliamentarians. Some said that they were in favor, claiming that the court had recognized possession of the ball. Others said that colleagues could not take an oath on moral issues.
Elected, it will be up to the new board of directors to decide whether the six detained deputies will be imprisoned or stay at home, one of them, Chiquinho da Mangueira, being under house arrest. President Ceciliano did not comment on the case on Friday.
The rules of procedure of the Chamber do not provide for exceptional cases such as this one and, in accordance with the decision of the Regional Regional Court of the 2nd Region, it will be Alerj himself who will decide. Even if they take office, the judiciary has specified that parliamentarians can only badume the mandates if the prisons are revoked.
According to Alerj, deputies have a maximum period of 60 days to take an oath, otherwise deputies are called. With the possibility of a prison or a prison, it is still unclear if prisoners would receive a salary or if deputies could be called.
