The index of industrial purchasing managers (PMI) in the euro area rose from 55.5 in May to 54.9 in June, reaching its lowest level in 18 months, according to the data final published today by IHS Markit. The result was slightly lower than the June forecast and the Dow Jones Newswires badysts forecast of 55 in both cases.

Despite the fall, reading above the mark of 50 suggests that the manufacturing sector in the euro zone continues solid expansion last month, but at a slower pace. With information from Dow Jones Newswires
