European leaders on Friday night approved a six-month extension of the economic sanctions imposed on Russia for its role in the Ukraine conflict, which should be formally approved by the EU Council.
The 28 EU leaders held in Brussels a "very short discussion" on the subject, "which will lead to a six-month extension of the sanctions" adopted for the first time in July 2014, said a European leader of the AFP
