The National Shrine of Aparecida (SP) had to close the car park for an hour this morning (16) due to the large number of visitors. The car park was closed around 10:50 and reopened about an hour later.
According to the press service of the basilica, parking would have been closed after reaching the maximum capacity of about three thousand vehicles and two thousand buses. In the Dutra and around the sanctuary, there was also congestion due to the excess of vehicles.
The PRF reported that during the morning, it monitored heavy traffic and organized punctual opening and closing of access to the city to ensure balanced traffic. Nevertheless, the accesses and the ways around the temple remained full throughout the morning.
The sanctuary is expected to welcome about 145,000 visitors this Sunday. According to the national sanctuary, the movement of the faithful is important since the first mbad at 5 am and only an organized pilgrimage was planned.
