First national tour of tribalists in Bahia, survives the rain and celebrates 16 years of history

Salvador * – On the scene, Arnaldo Antunes, Marisa Monte and Carlinhos Brown saw that a fine drizzle turned into a storm. On the stage, Tribalistas is more than a trio. He is trained by partners Dadi Carvalho (bbad, guitar, mandolin and keyboards), Pedro Baby (guitar and guitar), Pretinho da Serrinha (cavaquinho) and Marcelo Costa (drums). Marisa takes the guitar in her arms almost all the series and Brown has percussion instruments around her.

Marisa, Carlinhos and Arnaldo, little by little on stage, each with their own characteristic, just like in the studio, when the trio collaborations started in this same Bahia, 17 years ago, when Arnaldo came here to do his album Pardieiro produced by Carlinhos Brown and invited Marisa to sing with it's title track. Since then, 56 songs have been recorded by the trio – 23 of them, on Tribalistas' albums.

The owners of a vast repertoire, therefore, Tribalistas are trying to fit their shutters into one presentation. The show is robust, though the moments favorite by the audience are in the ballads and songs of love – or grief, as is the case of the After bruise. After the storm, the lull accompanies Já Sei Namorar and Velha Infância, the two greatest tribalistas hits, released on their debut album 16 years ago.

In the absence of so many years on stage, the tribalists lost their possession of their own songs. The audience is the one who sings, who cries, who rejoices with them for years, as if every verse of love was theirs, his own. In the end, Marisa surrenders and agrees: "These songs are not ours now," says Marisa, "it's up to you, and it's beautiful."
