Five credit financing companies were closed by Procon de Pernambuco (Procon-PE) in the district of Recife on Wednesday (19). The establishments operated irregularly in the Antônio Barbosa building, located on Guararapes Avenue, in the city center.
According to Procon, 13 other financial institutions in the metropolitan area were closed this year. The fine can reach 9 million rand.
According to the Consumer Protection Agency, the financial companies did not submit any document proving the existence of the correspondent bank. Procon said that this authorization should be issued by the Central Bank.
In September, Procon took action at the same locations and informed these institutions. From this ban, companies have ten days to present their defense.
The Secretary of Justice and Human Rights, Pedro Eurico, participated in the action. According to him, some institutions of this type do not even know how to explain the discount rate.
In October Procon de Pernambuco banned three consignment credit institutions operating irregularly in Recife. According to the agency, the companies did not submit the contract with the financial institutions with which they stated to have a link.
