A capture taken by our partners Motor1.com Turkey can anticipate what will be the new Brazilian Corolla. The model photos in Toyota's Turkish factory show that the European version has a different design than that of North America and, in keeping with tradition, is the European model that gives the look to the national Corolla . Indeed, in the United States, the Corolla has a younger and more casual audience, while in Eastern Europe and here in Brazil, it is a more clbadic and refined sedan.
This design had already been shown by the new Chinese Corolla in the Guangzhou salon last year, but now the flagra confirms that the model also follows this style. Curiously, the European versions of the hatches and wagons are more sporty, the advance being similar to that of the North American model, with headlights fitted at the ends. Already, the sedan that will be sold in China, Europe and Brazil has a more conservative look with smaller headlights and narrower, and a chrome net that goes from the upper grille to the headlights. The bumper has a large central air intake and pronounced folds at the ends, also with chrome threads. The wheels have a more discreet design, with more spokes and a diamond finish. At the rear, the bumper has softer cuts and the lanterns are connected by a chrome trim.
On the domestic front, virtually nothing changes with respect to the North American Corolla and European hatchback and paddle versions. This means that the sedan will bring a digital dashboard (depending on the version), a media center with "floating" screen and an electric parking brake, in addition to a more sophisticated finish. According to what we saw last year on the van of the Paris Motor Show, the Corolla will be on par with the Honda Civic in terms of speed, technology and refinement.
An important differential of the new Brazilian Corolla will be the hybrid flex engine for the first time in the world. It will use the famous Prius set, featuring a 1.8-liter combustion engine and an electric motor, now able to run also on ethanol. In addition, the 2.0 flex should be updated with direct injection, which can give you more power (169 hp with gasoline) and economy. Production in Europe is expected to start in the second half of February, while in Brazil, it is expected to start in the second half of the year, with a planned store arrival between November and December.
