For two years, effective and rational work keeps São Carlos out of the risks associated with Aedes aegypti

Effective work helped control the Aedes aegypti mosquito and reduce the number of dengue cases in the municipality of São Carlos. The city ended the year 2018 with 26 recorded cases of dengue, 16 indigenous and 10 imported; and 3 cases of imported Chikungunya. In 2017, there were 41 dengue records and in 2016 last year of management, the number of dengue cases reached 563 .

In the early days of 2019, [2 945 9003] 2 cases of dengue imported from Araraquara were registered.

To control Aedes aegypti, endemic disease teams carry out routine household surveys and control breeding sites of suspected cases of dengue, Chikungunya, Zika and Febre Amarela , blocking of nebulization in confirmed cases, study and larval research in special properties and strategic points.

All the works are part of the action plan against the Aedes aegypti 2019 mosquito, transmitted to the regional SUCEN – SR 06 in October 2018.

The municipality also conducts an ADL (larval density badessment), better known as LIRAa, a survey conducted by the Ministry of Health with badessments in January, April, July and October. The purpose of this work is to evaluate the levels of mosquito infestation in the city.

High-risk areas of breeding sites are subject to monitoring and information for other activities, such as cleaning work.

Summer is the time of year for the proliferation of the Aedes aegypti mosquito. High temperatures, heavy rain and high humidity are the mosquito's favorite environments.

You must be aware of all containers that can accumulate water inside, in the backyard and in vacant lots. The elimination of breeding sites remains the main preventive measure to control the mosquito vectors of Dengue, Chikungunya and Zika.
