RIO – The body of singer Miúcha will be veiled this afternoon at the São João Batista cemetery, in Botafogo, in the southern area of Rio. Parents and friends pay tribute to the artist,
died Thursday at the age of 81 years following a heart attack
while treating cancer.
Bebel Gilberto, the singer's daughter with singer and songwriter João Gilberto, arrived around 1:40 pm to go to Chapel 2, where her mother is veiled during a ceremony in camera for the press.
– Mom taught me to sing, to be happy, to enjoy life and all that is good in life. Smile for everyone always. She was always going to travel and stay, she never came back on the scheduled day. Just love. It was a wonderful mother. I'm going to die of desire for her. But that's all. We will take it, we will take it, "he sang.
Other relatives included sisters Cristina Buarque and former Culture Minister Ana de Hollanda.
– Miúcha was fascinating because it did not allow sadness. She always had a goal, a thing to do. She would not let herself be beaten. She always had a project for tomorrow or later. She was already very out of breath. Two months ago, he was already undergoing chemotherapy, had slightly improved and had given four concerts in São Paulo. She had this "I'm going to do it" – Ana said.
The former Minister of Culture enthusiastically stated:
– It leaves hope that only we can improve life. It is very serious that it only tamp down, which thinks only of the negative. It was an optimist. Friends have all enjoyed having him with me. For me, she is a model. Even as we live. We do not let ourselves get carried away by discouragement. These past few days have been friends who have visited him. Joao Gilberto, who does not leave the house, went there yesterday to see her, to sing for her. People loved him. Being close to her was a good thing.
One of the first to arrive, the actor Tonico Pereira spoke with affection of the friend:

More than 40 years of career in music
Daughter of the historian and journalist Sérgio Buarque of Holanda and the painter and pianist Maria Amélia Cesário Alvim, Miúcha published 14 albums during his career of over 40 years old.
Heloísa Maria Buarque de Hollanda was born in Rio de Janeiro on November 30, 1937 and moved to São Paulo with her family at the age of 8 years. He started singing like a child, forming a group with his brothers – even Chico.
