Seven fuel distributors were notified by the government because they did not reduce the price of diesel.
Petrobras, Ipiranga, Raízen, Alesat, Ciapetro, Royal Fic and Zema have a period of 10 days to provide clarification to the National Secretariat for Consumers, attached to the Ministry of Justice.
The $ 0.46 diesel discount was one of the promises made by the government during a truck drivers protest that lasted more than 10 days in May.
Companies must also submit invoices for the sale of diesel in each Brazilian state, on certain dates. In the event that distributors do not respond to inquiries in a timely manner, the National Consumer Secretariat may initiate administrative proceedings against companies and impose a fine of up to R $ 9 million.
According to the ministry, the complaints were sent by the service stations to the office of the ombudsman. In all, 98 notifications indicated that distributors were failing to repay.
