Chromecast users will no longer be able to use a computer to configure their devices. According to Google, Chrome 72 will completely remove support for the initial installation of the broadcast dongle for TVs. Instead, you'll need to use the Google Home app for Android or iPhone.
According to Google's support page, Chromecast's configuration on your computer will be discontinued in the next update for Chrome for Mac, Linux and Windows. Currently, browser version 71 already hides this user option, leaving only the option to navigate to "Chrome: // Cast" to install a new device. It will not even be possible soon.
However, this change should not affect other features of Chromecast for computers. This means that you can still stream videos, tabs, or YouTube workspaces to your TV. The same goes for TVs and other devices with built-in Chromecast.
To date, Google has not yet released a specific date for launching Chrome 72. However, the browser is already tested on beta channels. of society and is expected to reach all users later this month.
