Operator Oi is the first in Brazil to adopt the protocol RCS (Rich Communications Service) in the country. The new text messaging standard adds multimedia features to conversations and is called "SMS of the future".
With RCS, you can create conversation groups, share photos and videos in high resolution, see when contact is typing, and more. For example, the technology leaves ordinary text messages more like WhatsApp messages.
To activate RCS, Oi took advantage of the technology proposed by Google. The company introduced the new standard in Brazil at the end of 2017 through a partnership with three operators, including Claro and Vivo, but Oi was the first to make this plan a reality.
