The Inhotim Institute reopens this Saturday (9) with free admission and tribute to the victims of the tragedy of the city. The museum was closed for two weeks due to the breakup of the Brumadinho dam in the Belo Horizonte metropolitan area on Friday (25).
Inhotim will operate from 9am to 5.30pm. The institution will do a minute of silence at the beginning of the day.
Initially, the place would be closed until January 31, but the deadline has increased. The councilor stressed that the institute would play "an important role" in the recovery of the city and in the resolution of the tragedy.
"The dam rupture does not physically reach the Museum's premises, but it deeply shakes the team.Of the 600 or so employees of the Institute, 80% live in the region and 41 have relatives missing or deceased ", he said in a statement.
Known for its collections of contemporary art and botany, the museum is one of the major destinations for cultural and tourist attractions.
The institute presents an artistic collection of great international relevance, presenting works of Brazilian and foreign artists. Of the 140 hectares to visit, the public finds 23 large galleries and 23 large-scale works, spread throughout the park.
In the botanical field, there are species from all continents, incorporating a collection of about 4,500 plants, some rare and endangered.
