The iPhone X is already lagging (or not) after the launch of the new XS and XR family. This is the one that features the biggest battery of the three models launched by Apple in 2017. They are 2,716 mAh, to hold a 5.8-inch display with Samsung's OLED technology, with the help of the new iOS 12, reason to return to the device with battery tests and performance.
Is the Bionic A11 chipset better exploited by the current Apple system and guarantees better performance and greater autonomy?

Autonomy
We simulate the actual use of the smartphone with a list of applications with predetermined durations. When this list is complete, we consider the end of a cycle, suspending use for 30 minutes until reboot.
We measure consumption using the default option in system settings, seeking to define details as applications that consume the most load.
After 1 pm
- The smartphone made a total of 6 hours of display connected during the test.
- We conducted 9 complete cycles of tests, including:
- 54 minutes of navigation under Chrome
- 270 minutes of WhatsApp, Spotify, Apple Music (offline music), Loopideo (video) and YouTube (60 minutes each)
- 54 minutes of games (Pokémon Go, Surfers subway, Candy Crush, Modern Combat 5, Injustice and Asphalt 8)
- 54 minutes of Facebook, Gmail and Google Maps (20 minutes each)
- 36 minutes of voice calls connected to mobile networks
- The battery that consumes the most is YouTube,
- The application that consumes the least is injustice.
The battery of the iPhone X came to pay a little less with iOS 12. We had a difference of 1 hour of use with 50 minutes of screen connected, below what we had with iOS 11.
The cooldown, however, was not affected because it took more than 3 hours to get the battery of the iPhone. X completely recharged. The absence of accelerated charging means that the device only recovers 20% of the battery in 30 minutes in the socket, reaching 36% in 1 hour.
Practical Performance
We started with our usual speed test to see if iOS 12 is actually able to accelerate the performance of the iPhone X. Here we have exactly the same apps and games as those we previously used in our iOS 11 test.
In the first round, the iPhone X was taking exactly the same thing as forty seconds ago. open all In the second round, it was only a few milliseconds faster. Landmarks
If, in practice, we did not notice a gain in speed, we found an increase in the score of all the tests. The biggest difference concerns AnTuTu, but keep in mind that the application has been reformulated since the previous test with iOS 11.
- AnTuTu: 256,451 points
- GeekBench: 4,273

iOS 12 came out with the promise of boost the performance of iPhones, especially models s. In the case of the iPhone X, we did not find any speed gain, but the score got increased.
The problem is that the battery life has been reduced. No big difference, but using the device all day without recharging has become more complicated. Not to mention the fact that it takes even more than 3 hours to recharge your battery.
In summary: The upgrade from the iPhone X to iOS 12 does not bring much benefit, if it's not a benchmark gain and a little more than 39, autonomy during playback. If you have any doubts about upgrading your computer, it may be best to continue on iOS 11.

We have completed the sixth cycle now and it remains 38% load at the iPhone X. Youtube and WhatsApp are at the forefront of applications that consume the most energy.

Fifth closed cycle with a load of less than 10%. We have exceeded half of the total autonomy.
25/11/2018 – 14.18
A charge of 59% after the end of the fourth cycle, leading us to bet on 9 cycles in total.
25/11/2018 – 12.49
Closed the third cycle and now the iPhone X has 69%, we think that it goes up to 10 years, but it is still too early to attempt to strike

First cycle closed. As you can see, even if you reboot the device before running the test, you still count an earlier screen time. It was 8% of consumption in the first round.
