Since last week, Antonina – on the coast of Paraná – has recorded high temperatures, with an even greater thermal sensation. Tuesday (18), for example, the thermal sensation reached 81ºC, while the maximum temperature was 44.3ºC, around 16h.
Although numbers attract attention, they can be explained by two factors combined: high temperature and high humidity. Meteorologist Simepar Reinaldo Kneib explained to G1 that the thermal sensation is calculated using a formula that takes both of these factors into account.
"She believes that the possible discomfort of the person is in this apparent temperature condition, which is the heat index," Kneib said.
This is what happened to Antonina. On Friday (14), the thermal sensation was 64 ° C, the thermometers marking 43 ° C and the humidity of the air in 49% of cases. When the temperature and humidity reached 44.3 ° C and 75%, respectively, the thermal sensation was raised to 81 ° C.

For this Wednesday (19), according to Simepar forecasts, the maximum temperature in Antonina is 40 ° C, or even higher. As a result, the thermal sensation may increase again. "Here in Antonina, it is very hot and very humid, which increases the discomfort," the meteorologist said.

Simepar does not have an antecedent thermal sensation. He was not told whether a temperature sensation equal to or greater than that attained by Antonina on Tuesday had already been recorded in that state.
"The feeling is that if the person was exposed to the sun, that does not mean that he stayed in the index all day." It was at one o'clock in the day. "
The inhabitants of Antonina suffer from thermal sensation
In explaining the disadvantages that residents and tourists may feel, the meteorologist pointed out that the higher the humidity of the air was , the higher the air capacity, the smaller the water absorbs.
