A micro-bus carrying 16 military police officers was shot dead in the town of Feira de Santana, 100 kilometers from Salvador, on Sunday night.
According to information from the military police, the case occurred around 7:20 pm in Mercante Street, near Fazenda do Menor, in the Aviário district. The police suspect criminals of wanting to steal the group, without knowing that the vehicle was carrying policemen.
The bus of the Guarda Company had as destination the city of Amelia Rodrigues, where the police would make the security of a celebration of San Pedro. The vehicle was attacked when it slowed down to pbad through a stretch that had holes in the track.
The rear windshield of the micro bus was destroyed. According to the Prime Minister, no officer on board was injured.
The crime was allegedly committed by three armed men. The suspects fled through a thicket after the shots. Police said they did searches in the area to try to locate the criminals, but no suspects were arrested.
