The Municipal Department of Health confirms the first case of dengue fever in the municipality of Montenegro. The infected person is a 44-year-old woman living in the countryside in the north-east of the country during the first half of January. She presented the typical symptoms of the infection and consulted a doctor. He then contacted the municipal epidemiological surveillance service, where tests for dengue and chikungunya were carried out. The results of the Public Health Laboratory – LACEN confirmed the disease.

Mobilization against the mosquito

During the year 2018, the municipality had 65 households spread over different neighborhoods. By 2019, teams detected 22 Aedes homes. The larvae, when discovered by health workers, are badyzed at the entomology laboratory and deposited at the right time.

The work of the endemic species control agents is carried out jointly with the population. Cleaning and sealing the water box, removing stagnant water from pots and flower pots, as well as consciously waste, are some of the preventive actions against the mosquito transmitter.
