There are 312 municipalities in the country, especially in Bahia, with a risk of polio epidemics, warned the Health Ministry this week, as Brazil has not registered any cases of this disease for 28 years. DISEASE

Prevention
Polio has no specific treatment. Transmission can occur from one person to another through saliva and excrement, as well as through contaminated water and food.
However, vaccination must prevent the disease. The vaccine is administered at public health service stations. There are also national campaigns
The trivalent vaccine against oral poliomyelitis should be administered at the age of 2, 4 and 6 months. The first reinforcement is done at 15 months and the other between 4 and 6 years old. You must also be vaccinated in all campaigns. The next national polio immunization campaign will take place from 6 to 31 August.
