Mozilla has been criticized on the Internet for a feature included in one of the latest versions of Firefox. The function is to perform screenshots in the browser. Once the capture is done, a window opens with some options.
The problem is that the highlighted button does not accomplish what users might badume as the default action, in which case, record the capture on their mics. Instead, the "Save" button, highlighted, saves the screen capture in the cloud on a Mozilla server, without warning or confirmation. On the other hand, the button that saves the capture locally has a down arrow format and is displayed in gray.
Mozilla informs that the function Recording online captures facilitates the search for screen copies for users. They are removed from the server after two weeks, unless users decide to save them longer.
Even in this case, some Reddit users did not spare the company, claiming that the practice of not specifying the operation of the button is "dirty" or at least implemented by a "stupid" person. For them, instead of "Save", it would be necessary to write "Download". In addition, the fact that the button is highlighted encourages users to overuse by default.
Faced with criticism, the company plans to remove the ability to save captures in the cloud, retaining only the option to save them in the microphone of the user. A somewhat radical decision, because rearranging the layout of buttons and including their names would already be enough to avoid mistakes.
The current "Save" button must be removed from Firefox version 67 and the server must be disabled by next May
