The Attorney General of the State of Rio de Janeiro (MPRJ) opened an investigation to determine the breakage of a pipe that advanced the dark material along the main beaches of Arraial do Cabo, the "Brazilian Caribbean". The crystalline waters became greenish and unfit for swimming, surprising many tourists.
The National Institute of the Environment (Inea) collected samples Tuesday (29) in Prainha, on the beaches of Anjos and Forno. The result, which will indicate if the water is contaminated, should come out on Friday (1st). Also on Tuesday, the Pratal do Pontal do Atalaia, with its paradisiacal landscapes, has also stayed in the dark waters. G1 asked Inea if the site will also be inspected and awaiting return.
"We come, we really expect that there is this little blue water, everything is clean. Then everything will be black, it's strange, I did not like it a lot, "said Nete Carvalho, a tourist in Petropolis.
The MPRJ informed G1 that he had opened the investigation on Monday (28) and requested clarification from the dealer Prolagos and the mayor of Arraial do Cabo on the problem of the four beaches of the city. Prolagos said that he had not yet been notified. The G1 is waiting for the response of the town hall about the intervention of the deputy.

The hotel's pipe de city was broken last Friday (25) during a heavy rain. The edge of Prainha finally gave way and the dark material invaded the sea and advanced towards the other beaches.
Because of the problem, many bathers are heading towards Praia Grande, which is at another point and has not been affected by the leak.
The municipal teams, in partnership with the Foundation for the Environment, Science and Technology, met on Tuesday morning to clean garbage, dead algae and microlixos from Praia do Forno. A joint effort is planned for Prainha on February 9th.

Still according to City Hall, the beaches are monitored by teams of the Marine Environmental Guard and Civil Defense. Access to the Pratal do Pontal do Atalaia is free, but the town hall explained that the teams advised the swimmers not to enter the water.
The municipality of Arraial do Cabo indicated that "although it is not possible to predict such a storm, the city has accused the concessionaire Prolagos, responsible for the treatment of wastewater in the municipality, to take steps to accelerate the delivery of the services listed in the contract, concession contract signed in 2016 ".
This morning, a meeting was held at the Mayor's Office and several requests were made to the Dealer and to Agenersa, the Regulatory Services Authority.
The G1 follows the case and awaits the disclosure of the results of the badyzes of Inea and Prolagos as well as the results of the prosecutor's investigations.
