New hope: Sony says that it is studying "many possibilities" of crossplay on PS4

For the moment, Sony does not support multi-platform gameswhich means that if you have an SP4, you will not be able to play online with your friends who have an Xbox or a Nintendo Switch. But it seems that the Japanese manufacturer is hoping that this will change.

Some gaming companies like Microsoft and Nintendo are already exploring the possibilities of multiplatform games. An example of this is Minecraft, which recently won an update offering cross-gameplay between the Switch and Xbox One. Sony, on the other hand, refused to attend the party. Two times

But it seems that the company can change its mind. Shawn Layden, CEO and President of Sony Interactive Entertainment America, and Mark Cerny, PS4 System Architect, spoke at a Gamelab conference Wednesday. During the event, a journalist from Eurogamer asked Layden about cross-play, suggesting that Sony "do not listen" to the players.

Layden responded by stating that the company was listening to its customers, and stated that he was "confident" that Sony would propose a "solution."

"We hear a lot of possibilities. You can imagine that the circumstances surrounding it affect more than just a game." I am confident that we will come to a solution that will be understood and accepted by our gaming community and by same time, to promote our business.

Although he says that Sony is studying the possibilities, he did not share any concrete plans or ideas of when things might change.

The decision not to join the crossover game is business-related, and Sony has already stated that "this is a business discussion between us and other stakeholders", refusing to comment further on the subject.
