Whoever is a fan of Mustang already knows it: every generation is accompanied (at least) by a version prepared by Shelby. The sixth generation has been restyled in 2017, but it's only now that Ford has unveiled the new Shelby GT350.

In front of its predecessor, the coupe benefited from improvements in terms of aerodynamics, new suspension calibration and more powerful brakes to tame power.

And it seems that the cavalry is gross: 533 hp are extracted from the V8 5.2 engine that was already used in the old Shelby GT350. This is, by the way, the most powerful atmospheric engine ever built by Ford.

The changes are difficult to spot right away. According to Ford, the aerodynamic part has been improved. In addition to the redesigned grille, one of the major improvements has occurred at the rear, whose profile has improved aerodynamic pressure. The brand offers an even larger wing – and more efficient, according to the automaker – in option.

According to Ford, the information gathered during the design of the new Shelby GT500 – which will also be released in 2019 – has been applied to the GT350.

Walk more and brake more

Ford Performance (the brand's high-performance division) was in charge of the recalibration of the active suspension. Electrical steering and stability control with three modes of operation have also been improved.

The Shelby GT350 2019 tights Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires in the 295/35 in the front and 305/35 in the rear, providing better grip on the previous model.

The braking system is provided by Brembo (famous for outfitting super sports cars and Formula 1 cars), bringing six pistons to the front and four pistons to the rear for better performance.

Billy Johnson, driver of the Ford Endurance World Championship, participated in the vehicle calibration process. "The Shelby GT350 brings a new level of driving and performance – it's a sensational car to drive on the track, both amateur and professional," he said.

The cabin also deserved special attention. The competition benches made by Recaro are covered with suede and there are inserts made of aluminum and carbon fiber inside.

The full list of standard features includes Bang & Olufsen audio system, SYNC 3 multimedia center with 8-inch touch screen, digital climate control with dual temperature zones, universal garage door control and approach lights to mirror design Shelby Cobra emblem on the floor.
