Not in alliance with Meirelles, says Alckmin

SÃO PAULO – The PSDB presidential candidate, Geraldo Alckmin, said Tuesday that he "did not consider" a possible alliance with the MDB, with former minister Henrique Meirelles being his deputy. Alckmin's statement goes in the opposite direction of the movements of Marconi Perillo, coordinator of the Tucan campaign, to try to sew an agreement with Meirelles.

Today, a meeting was planned between Perillo and President Michel Temer, the main political articulator of the MDB. Brasília, to discuss a possible alliance. Yesterday, the campaign coordinator defended Meirelles as Alckmin's deputy, interviewing investors in the state capital.

The presidential candidate, however, made several compliments to the DEM and signaled his willingness to build an alliance, even though the mayor, Rodrigo Maia (DEM-RJ), is a pre-candidate to the presidency. Tomorrow, Alckmin will meet the leaders of DEM, PP, PRB and SD – parties that form the center of the Congress.

National President of the PSDB, Alckmin avoided talking about the negotiation of his party with the MDB to dispute the government of São Paulo. Yesterday, Temer met with pre-candidates for the state government João Doria (PSDB) and Paulo Skaf (MDB). Doria advocated that Skaf give up to support him and offered one of the Senate vacancies for emedebists. Skaf, however, resists the idea.

"In all states we will have a pluricandidatura image," he said.

In an Ibope poll released on Friday, Skaf is technically at Doria's level and would win the second round in São Paulo.
