Omega Signs US $ 1.9 Billion Agreement for the Purchase of Wind Turbines – Economy

Omega Generation, a renewable energy company, signed an agreement Monday to buy 100% of the Assuruá wind farm in the interior of Bahia. The company belonged to the participatory investment fund (FIP) of the renewable energy company (REB) of IEER. The value of the company amounts to 1.9 billion rubles.

But the amount is still likely to change until the date of completion of the purchase, which depends on the authorization of the Economic Defense Administration Council ( CADE) and creditors. The agreement covers the Assuruá complex, consisting of 13 wind farms with a capacity of 303 megawatts (MW).

In addition, the agreement includes the right of first offer of acquisition of projects to be developed by FIP IEER in the region whose potential is of the order of 2 000 MW.

With the acquisition and commissioning of the Delta 5 and Delta 6 complexes planned for the beginning of this year, Omega will exceed the installed 1,000 MW mark. This portfolio includes 77% of wind energy, 15% of solar energy and 8% of hydroelectric power.

"The Assuruá complex became fully operational in early 2018 and, in a cautious and comprehensive manner, we have been diligent over the last few months to conclude the negotiation on that date, with the conviction that we have acquired technical quality, "said Omega's president, Antonio Bastos Filho, in a statement.

This is the third acquisition of Omega Generation since the company opened on the stock market in July 2017. In December of this year, the company acquired 100% of the Delta wind farm 3 with a capacity of 220.8 MW in Maranhão for 1.97 billion rubles. In August, he announced the purchase of 50% of Complexo Pirapora (MG), of 321 MW. The activity, worth R $ 1.1 billion, marked the company's entry into solar energy.
