QUADRINHOS
How are the stories of the Monica group born? This is a question that fans will have answered from August 7, when the studio of the cartoonist Mauricio de Sousa, in the Lapa region, west of São Paulo, will open its doors to visit fans.
The announcement was made this Wednesday (18), the day the dog Bidu, the first character of the caricaturist, is 59 years old. It was not even blue when he came out of a box to find his owner, Franjinha, in the 1959 publication of the S.Paulo Folha – until then, Sousa was working as a reporter for police in the newspaper. Monica, the most famous character and who today gives her name to the animation group, did not even exist – it only appeared in the 18th comic strip.
According to Sousa, tours are an old request from fans, of various ages, who send letters, e-mails and call to know the details of the production. "Many people think that Mauricio does it all by himself," laughs his wife, Alice, who says that for over 50 years, the idea of opening the space to receive schools and fans are available.
With the move of the studio into a commercial complex in Lapa, the project will finally become a reality and fans will be able to visit the venue, which includes a small museum in the history of the cartoonist, a video presentation and a tour of different production sectors, watching artists develop scripts, draw and color.
The project is part of the celebrations for the 60th anniversary of Mauricio de Sousa Produções, celebrated next year.
"The most important for the child is to see, to perceive, to realize that those who make the stories are people like them, it is those who are encouraged to continue, to study, to prepare and achieve their professional goal, "says Sousa.
Visits will be monitored from Tuesday to Thursday, always in two shifts, from 10 am to 11:30 pm and from 2:30 pm to 4 pm Tickets will be sold on the Internet and will cost R $ 150 (integer) and R $ 75 (half), with the possibility of discounts for families and groups – children under five will not be allowed.
There was already a visit to the designer's previous studio, but lacked infrastructure, such as the bathroom and canopy. "When the kids went to visit the place, the staff could not use the elevator, and no one could get in the elevator, "jokes Alice. the structure, the expectation is to receive 4,000 in the second half.
The studio currently produces about 1,500 pages a month, working three months in advance. There are eight monthly magazines (Monica, Cebolinha, Cascão, Magali, Chico Bento, Turma da Mônica, Turma da Mônica Jovem and Chico Moço), five bimonthly almanacs, three quarterly, besides Armazacão, Saiba But, A Tema Solo and Clássicos do Cinema. .
"Of course, there are black holes in the studio, those with superstitious projects, but it should be 1% or 2% of the total." The rest, we will be happy to show everyone. "
Also in early August, the designer will launch with Ziraldo a book for the first time gathering his famous characters Mônica and Menino Maluquinho." Mônica and Menino Maluquinho on the Magic Mountain "(Improvements) will be published at the São Paulo Book Biennial on 4.
