The Vale do Teles Pires public health consortium, an entity formed by 15 municipalities of the Middle North, began this morning the joint effort of pterygium surgeries.
The executive secretary of the consortium, Solimara Moura, explained that patients were selected by the regulatory center of each municipality, according to the criteria of urgency and time period of waiting. "The function of the consortium is to manage the resources, contract and monitor the work done by the company responsible for the surgeries."
In Sorriso, the joint effort is carried out in the Multiprofessional Specialty Ambulatory (AME) and continues until tomorrow, benefiting the municipalities of Sorriso (50), Merry Christmas (10), Ipiranga do Norte ( 22), Southern Union (04) and Santa Carmem (08). And on August 4th and 5th, taking advantage of Tapurah's patients and even Smile (50), totaling 194 procedures.
The second pole to receive the mutirão will be Lucas do Rio Verde, on August 11, 12 and 18. A total of 135 surgeries will be performed for patients in Itanhangá (16), Nova Maringá (04) and Lucas do Rio Verde (115).
The campaign will be finalized at Nova Mutum on August 25, with 55 surgeries, patients from Santa Rita do Trivelato (05) and Nova Mutum (50).
This is the second group of ophthalmic surgeries performed by the Health Consortium this year. The first started in April, about 380 cataract procedures were performed
The pterygium is a species of meat that grows on the surface of the cornea towards the pupil. The extraction surgery is simple without the need for consultation and pre-surgical examinations. The Vale do Teles Pires public health consortium is formed by the municipalities of Sorriso, Lucas do Rio Verde, Nova Mutum, Sinop, Cláudia, Feliz Natal, Ipiranga do Norte, Itanhangá and Tapurah.
