PM announces the arrest of a suspect of attack against MP Martha Rocha

On Wednesday night, 20-year-old Jonathan Aguiar dos Santos was involved in a car robbery in Estrada do Quitungo, in Brás de Pina, in the northern area of ​​Rio, before being taken to the headquarters of the Directorate of guarantees from the civilian police. he confessed his participation in the attack against the parliamentarian. Jonathan's testimony was referred to the Homicide Division, which is investigating the case.

According to the Prime Minister, after receiving the report on the theft of the vehicle, the police organized a siege and located the criminals, who reacted. There was an exchange of fire and one of the individuals involved in the robbery, yet unidentified, died on the spot as a result of the explosion of a grenade. In addition to Jonathan, Anderson da Silva Moraes and Lucas Jony dos Reis dos Santos, both 20, were also arrested. With them, the Prime Minister seized a 9 mm Taurus 809 pistol, two 9 mm pistol grips and four grenades.

Martha's car, a white, armored Corolla, was mounted in a Hyundai iX35 with four hooded men armed with rifles and pistols on Sunday morning, Belizário Pena Street in Vila da Penha. The MP was accompanied by her mother, aged 88, and driver Geonísio Santos Medeiros, first vice-president of the reserve. Medeiros was shot in the leg and hospitalized at Getúlio Vargas Hospital, but was released. In November of last year, Martha reported that she had received three threats.
